Ardra Ragesh – Young Artist
Let’s meet Ardra Ragesh, the smart 9-year-old girl from Sugarland, Texas, in this week’s artist spotlight series.
With lots of enthusiasm and a little mischief, which she believes are part of the definition of being a kid, Ardra is a multi-talented artist. She started drawing at the age of 3 and her favorite subject to draw was flowers. As she grew, she developed an interest in dance and music as well.
What do you like to draw the most?
“Animals!” And then she adds on to say, “Animals and birds”
And why not? They are cute and so pretty!
Ardra has been with Nimmy’s Art since the first online class we had in June 2020. She has learned and grown as a young artist, and we are all very proud of her.
Ardra, who is a pet-lover and owns a betta fish, loves the performing arts too. Her hobbies are dancing, drawing and singing, in that order.
And here’s the big reveal: She is famous as RJ Ardra in the Texas radio listeners’ circle. She hosts a kids show at Asha Radio. Need we say more about her multifaceted personality?
Ardra has worked on 5 different mediums at Nimmy’s Art over the span of 6 months. She likes to put down her imagination on canvas and with the many art techniques she has learned till now, it is a delight to see the work she creates.
Can you tell us your favorite medium?
She was quick to choose acrylic as her favorite medium. And also admitted that although Prisma colors are lovely, they are a lot of effort.
Ardra started her first art lessons at Nimmy’s Art. Online courses enabled her to attend the art course from the convenience of their home.
In-person classes would have been too far for her and the travel from school to Nimmy’s art class in Katy, Texas would not have worked out.
Between her school, the after school lessons in dance, music and art, and the online events for her show, she stays very busy. Since she loves the Holiday theme, she is really looking forward to join our holiday camp during the December break.
Which class at Nimmy’s Art did you like the most?
With a big grin on her face, she said, “Hogwarts Express.”
Ah, a Harry Potter fan we thought. But that wasn’t why she liked it.
“It is a very simple drawing. So I enjoyed doing it.”
Ardra’s mother is very happy to see how much Ardra has learned. She shared, that the ease with which each complex subject is broken down and explained to the kids has amazed her.
What if… you were an art teacher?
“Follow the class rules and be ready with the materials.”
“You need to bring white paint because white is very important in acrylic.” says Ms.Ardra, the art teacher.
Looks like Ms. Ardra is ready to take an online class.
And that’s when she gave her very important tip.
Ardra’s Art Tip
“Need to know the basic shapes.”
We concur. That, and a growth mindset are the only prerequisite to learn art.
Before we parted, we asked her if she was excited about being featured in the artist spotlight to share her art journey and her thoughts with us.
“YES!! Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious-ly excited!” That’s Ardra for you, bubbly and cheerful with lots of energy.
Stay tuned for our next artist spotlight.
