Meet Ariana, our little artist since 2021. When she’s not creating art, she enjoys watching science videos, playing with her little brother, and practicing gymnastics and martial arts. She also loves swimming and making things like spoon catapults, clay objects, and ceramic paintings. Ariana enjoys teaching her brother numbers, reading, and some gymnastic moves. Her favorite foods are chicken nuggets, cake, and fruit salad.

When did you first start drawing or painting?

Ariana began drawing and painting around the age of 3, and at 5, she started painting with Nimmy’s Art. She was homeschooled at that time before starting second grade last year.

It’s amazing to see how early Ariana’s passion for art began! Starting so young must have really helped her develop those skills.

What do you love most about creating art?

What I love most about art is the freedom to be creative, play with colors, and draw anything I imagine. My favorite colors are pastel rainbow and pink. Creating art makes me happy, and I enjoy focusing on the process.

Creativity is such a beautiful outlet! Pastel rainbow and pink are lovely choices, they really make artwork pop.

What do you like to do when you’re not drawing?

I love doing crafts, practicing gymnastics and Taekwondo, making and editing drawings and pictures on my tablet, and learning about technology on the computer.

Wow, Ariana is so multi-talented! Balancing art, sports and tech is really impressive!

Do you like to draw alone or with friends?

I like both because when I’m alone, I can concentrate in peace. When I’m with friends, we have fun, draw together, and share ideas.

Ariana enjoys the best of both worlds! Whether solo or collaborative, each experience brings her joy and inspiration.

Do you like drawing animals or people more and why?

I mostly enjoy drawing people, especially in anime style is my favorite, but also I like drawing animals like deer, bunnies, puppies, kitties and birds because those are my favorite animals.

Pencil Drawing – Manga Character Drawing (Manga Art)

Anime style is so cool! And drawing cute animals like those must be so much fun.

What’s your favorite medium in our Online Art Class?

My favorite tools are Pencils and Sharpies because I can sketch anything, and then choose to add watercolor afterward. I also enjoy using Oil Pastels to blend colors.

Oil Pastel- Lotus lamp

Pencil and Sharpie are such versatile tools!

  • Pencil lets you capture detailed images and emotions with just simple lines. It’s a direct way to express ideas quickly and explore creativity. Plus, it’s a great starting point for any artwork, helping you plan and experiment. Sharpie will enhance the beauty of the line art.

Adding Watercolor and Oil Pastels brings everything to life.

  • Watercolors are great for adding both soft, transparent washes and vibrant, intense colors, blending beautifully to give your art a dynamic, fluid feel. Oil pastels, on the other hand, offer rich, textured color that blends easily and layers well, adding boldness and unique depth to your artwork.

Share your favorite artwork from Nimmy’s Art Class?

I like the rainbow artwork the best because it’s colorful, and I love the blend of oil pastels. The clouds are cute too. I also like the other drawings, especially the candle with its beautiful colors and the flower made with acrylic. The flower was kind of hard to paint, but I really loved it.

Who’s your favorite artist or cartoon character?

My favorite character is Tula/Toola from “The Fixies” because she is kind, intelligent, strong, and tall, and she has a nice voice. I also like other characters such as Lucas the Spider, Minnie Mouse, and Daisy Duck. Additionally, I enjoy Bob Ross, as he paints beautiful landscapes.

Oil pastels – Morning Glory

Tula/Toola is a fantastic role model because she inspires and motivates others with her resilience, creativity, and positive attitude.

Bob Ross is also an inspiring artist, known for his magical landscapes and calm teaching style, making art accessible and joyful for everyone. His philosophy of “happy accidents” encourages creativity and self-acceptance.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Invisibility would allow me to perform tricks on villains and track them without them knowing I’m there.

Acrylic Painting – Cute Baby Yoda

Invisibility would be such a cool power! Perfect for sneaky adventures and helping people.

What do you like the most about our art class with Miss Nimmy?

I like how she explains everything in detail, answers all my questions, and creates beautiful art that makes drawing and painting seem very easy.

How has Nimmy’s Art helped you learn new techniques or develop your skills as a little artist?

Mrs. Nimmy has helped me learn how to use same-line strokes, scribble filling, face cross, draw a nose, create one-line perspectives, stay within the lines, and obtain new colors by mixing two different colors

Acrylic painting – Magnificent Magnolia Blossom- Part 2

Those techniques are so important! Learning from someone as skilled as Nimmy must be a great experience. It’s inspiring to see how she can turn complex concepts into easy-to-follow lessons. Her guidance has certainly made a huge difference in art for young artists.

Any advice you would give to other little artists?

Be confident and draw what you can. Start new things when you’re ready, and take your time to be patient while learning to draw. It doesn’t need to be perfect the first time, just keep trying until you get it.

That’s such great advice, Ariana! Confidence and patience are key in learning to draw. Every artist starts somewhere, and it’s all about progress, not perfection.
